Thoughts on travel.

02-10-2026

Ever since moving about an hour away from the town I've spent most of my life in, I've found it hard to see my friends as often as I used to. When I was in high school, my parents were quite protective, but as soon as their grip loosened, we found ourselves at the foot of the mountains and away from our (almost (not quite)) coastal city.

Now, I don't intend to write a whole lot today, but I do want to express my wish to have better public transportation across Southern California... This is only really available in Los Angeles, and to make matters worse, a train from my town to my friends isn't even possible without transfers in LA! Is it really too much to ask for? Instead, I have to ask for a ride to another town to get a direct train to see my friends, or I have to wake up early on the weekend to take the train several towns over from my friends and that is only IF they are free that day.

I suppose the answer to my problems is a license and a car, and I know it is and I am almost there, but I can't help but wish the train was more reliable, had more times and routes for direct rides instead of 3 hour rides with transfers in the city and direct rides only at 9 in the morning or at 8 at night.

Who knows, maybe this can and will happen sometime in the future! If only it could come sooner...
